Humpback Whale and Dolphin Playing in Hawaii
Our ocean is full of life and magical things such as a humpback whale and dolphin swimming together. A video was released on Wednesday, showing an incredible and playful moment between a dolphin and a whale. The two are very much different in size but it doesn’t stop them from being playful friends. A photographer, Jacob VanderVelde shared this incredible video and a lot of us can’t stop watching!
Jacob has been photographing and recording images of ocean waves and everything surrounding it, in Hawaii. As a photographer and bodyboarder, he has seen a lot of incredible things, but nothing like this. In his video, we get to see the humpback whale and dolphin twirling and swimming. While the large whale spins repeatedly, the dolphin circles around its head. Maybe the dolphin was just showing off how fast it is but either way it’s a beautiful moment captured around 9:15 a.m. off Oahu’s North Shore. Jacob VanderVelde said “On a scale of one to 10, it would be a 12.”
It’s nice to see that even in the ocean, wildlife takes the time to be playful. This also shows just how much alike we all are. They travel, eat a little more than us while still looking fit, have friends, and get drunk and start a morning dance party. Okay, they probably don’t do the latter. And if anything, it’s a feel good video! During these crazy and scary times, we all need to enjoy more powerful and playful videos like these! While this is not the first video of a humpback whale and dolphin being playful, it is a reminder that our ocean wildlife are just like us.
